JOB DESCRIPTION

Description:
Transition of Operations (ToO) in the NRF Engineering
department is seeking three (3) Advanced or Senior
Engineers. Engineers will be designing, procuring, and
implementing Servicing Facility Equipment (SFE) for
refueling production lines and developing procedures to
startup those product lines in the new Naval Spent Fuel
Handling Facility (NSFHF). Engineers will be members of
a multi-disciplined team of equipment design engineers.
Having an understanding of equipment design principles,
experience with designing equipment for use in
manufacturing applications, process development,
procedure development, and demonstration of strong
communication abilities are beneficial as well as
experience in engineering Naval Nuclear work.
Advanced Engineer:
Specific duties of an Advanced Engineer include:
* Delegated engineering responsibility for all aspects
of assigned tasks with some guidance on non-routine
tasks. Resolve issues in area of cognizance.
* Interface with other Program organizations to
accomplish objectives.
* Provide technical support and oversight for field
operations.
* Team with other engineers performing related phases
of the technical work to ensure integration of
activities and plans. May act as a lead for portions
of the technical work.
* Apply knowledge of NAVSEA requirements to work
assignments.
* Prepare project plans to accomplish assigned work.
Identify and complete performance measures including
post job assessments. Meet project and scheduler
requirements.
* Prepare cost and schedule estimates and performance
measures.
* Communicate as necessary to ensure customer and
senior manager understanding of project status.
* Perform analytical evaluations which may include the
development and application of complex computer
models.
* Develop system knowledge to apply to technical and
operational problem solving.
* Prepare revisions to technical manuals, reports , or
procedures in accordance with NR Program quality
standards. Ensure other documentation is in
accordance with NR Program quality standards.
* Initiate, design, develop, and support the execution
of engineering research and design projects.
* Understand and implement the BMPC engineering
policies and procedures in area of cognizance.
* Obtain and retain necessary qualification to perform
assigned duties.
Senior Engineer:
Specific duties of a Senior Engineer include:
* Delegated broad engineering responsibility for all
aspects of assigned tasks with limited direction.
* Interface with other Program organizations to
accomplish objectives.
* Provide technical support and oversight for field
operations.
* Team with and provide technical leadership for the
technical efforts of other personnel performing
related phases of a technical program.
* Apply knowledge of NAVSEA requirements to work
assignments.
* Participate in standing technical committees.
* Provide proactive leadership for area of cognizance
to address legacy issues, develop process
improvements, or maintain historical knowledge.
* Perform work planning to accomplish major projects
to meet project and scheduler requirements. Align
resources, identify risks, and prepare mitigation
plans to meet major milestones.
* Prepare cost and schedule estimates and performance
measures.
* Communicate as necessary to ensure customer and
senior manager understanding of project status.
* Perform analytical evaluations which may include the
development and application of complex computer
models.
* Apply system knowledge to technical and operation
problem solving.
* Prepare and support coordination of revisions to
technical manuals. Issue technical reports and
recommendations.
* Ensure documentation is in accordance with NR
Program quality standards.
* Initiate, coordinate, design, develop, test, and
implement engineering research and design projects.
* Understand and implement the BMPC engineering
policies and procedures in area of cognizance and
related to work.
* Obtain and retain necessary qualifications to
perform assigned duties.
Requirements:
Advanced:
BS degree in engineering from an accredited college or
university and a minimum of four years of relevant
experience based on an exceptional performance trend; or
MS degree in engineering from an accredited college or
university and a minimum of two years of relevant
experience based on an exceptional performance trend
Senior:
BS degree in engineering from an accredited college or
university and a minimum of six years of relevant
experience based on an exceptional performance trend; or
MS degree in engineering from an accredited college or
university and a minimum of four years of relevant
experience based on an exceptional performance trend
