Within General Mills, our manufacturing facilities are committed to achieving zero human and food safety incidents and it is every employee's responsibility to fully support this vision. Skilled Mechanics are hired as members of a manufacturing team. They are responsible for the preventative and reactive maintenance of processing and packaging equipment within the manufacturing facility.

The General Mills-Chanhassen, MN plant operates 24 hours per day 7 days per week. This is a 3rd Shift position, Thursday-Saturday, and every other Wednesday. Changes in volume and production requirements can result in changes in work schedule and additional overtime. Skilled Mechanics must be willing to work any shift including nights and weekends.

The starting wage for a Maintenance Mechanic position is $23.06 with periodic increases up to a rate of $28.82. General Mills also offers shift differential payment for those working off-shift. ACCOUNTABILITIES:

* Lead with safety - both human and food safety.

* Perform the following on the ammonia refrigeration, boilers and utilities systems supporting production, including high/ low pressure boilers, steam traps, screw compressors, pumps, motors, valve groups, condensers, evaporators, chillers, etc:

* Preventative and predictive maintenance activities (PM's Generated from CMMS)

* Corrective maintenance work orders (work orders generated from CMMS)

* Reactive maintenance activities.

* Perform daily rounds/checks of ammonia, boiler and facility/utility systems

* Utilize CMMS to identify and track completed tasks.

* Work with operations technicians and floor maintenance teams to correct freezer and climate issues (freezer defrosts, room temperatures, compressed air systems, bulk delivery issues, and utility/facility issues, etc.)

* Perform hot and cold compressor and motor alignments, condition based monitoring/PMs, basic electrical troubleshooting, and root cause analysis.

* Troubleshoot pump recirculating systems and liquid transfer systems.

* Understand and follow all OSHA, EPA and PSM guidelines including MOC's, P&ID's, vessel drawings, IIAR 109's, SOP's, Mechanic Integrity, etc.

* Serve as ammonia and boiler system technical resource for capital project, system changes, continuous improvement activities and troubleshooting.

* Coordinate prioritization of work orders with mechanics, planners and Team Leaders.

* Support floor mechanics if needed.

* Train others on Utilities systems such as HVAC, compressed air, propane system, engine room, freezers, etc.

MINIMUM/BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

* Must have at least 2 years of utilities maintenance experience, or tech school diploma in related field.

* Must have at least one of the following and the ability to obtain the other:

* Minnesota State Boiler License Special Class required; 2nd Class B boiler license preferred

* CARO/CIRO RETA certification preferred

* Experience operating and maintaining an ammonia refrigeration system is preferred

* Must meet requirements for using an APR respirator and SCBA

* Must be able to obtain HAZWOPER certification.

* Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

* Must be able to perform physical tasks for extended periods of time including: standing, walking, climbing, bending, pushing pulling and twisting over surfaces

* Must meet requirements for using an APR respirator and SCBA

* Must be able to purchase or have tools required for maintenance jobs per minimum requirements, see maintenance required tool list.

* CMMS (ie. MAXIMO) experience preferred
