Essential Functions

This position supports individual sourcing projects and/or a set of assigned commodities by deploying best practices, procurement tools, and negotiation skills. Also assists in contract execution, implementation, and supplier reviews for assigned contracts. The Supply Chain Intern works collaboratively and proactively to identify process, sourcing, and contract improvement opportunities. Scope/Supervision and Interaction Position reports directly to the Division Sourcing and Procurement Manager Essential Functions Manage the activities of the Division s purchases of assigned commodities including development of supplier selection criteria based on evaluations of price, quality, delivery, certifications, and compliance. Identify, select, and negotiate with suppliers in response to material requirements/cost issues. Establish procedures to best leverage the Division s position. Ensure sourcing strategy reflects consistent utilization of strategic suppliers. Support new product launches or product changes through supplier identification and negotiation. Work proactively with suppliers to identify and implement continuous improvement programs addressing quality, delivery, service, and price. Develop and benchmark best practices among Division suppliers and maintain accurate supplier performance measurements and records for evaluation of suppliers. Ensure expenditures are consistent with Division strategies and within department budgets. Assist with negotiations for new sourcing requirements.

Qualifications

Currently pursuing 4-year degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Operations Management or related field. Experience and/or exposure to supply chain concepts and methodologies through relevant experience or coursework. Possess analytical and technical skills required to understand business practices and recommend improvement opportunities. Must have intermediate computer skills and be able to understand electronic processing. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills for effective interface will all internal and external contacts.
