Description:
The Technical Writer researches, writes and updates
deliverable manuals & documents related to the National
Aerospace System - En Route Automation Modernization (ERAM)
Program, Edits technical documents in conformance with
FAA Requirements. Determines the suitability of material
for target audience. Will be involved in projects from
the planning stage, provide additional or missing
materials, and edit for content format, flow and
integrity.
Requirements:
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications
Education & Experience: Candidate must have Bachelor s
Degree in English, Communications, Technical Writing,
Technology Management or Engineering or related/
relevant discipline with a minimum of 5 years related
experience. At least 2 years of the experience must be
in writing and editing technical documents.
* Must have a strong working knowledge of the ERAM Air
Traffic Control System
* 5 years hands-on experience with Linux system
administration/hardware maintenance
* 5 years hands-on experience with Networking/Security
Skills, Abilities & Certifications:
* Highly competent skills in using Microsoft Office,
including expert proficiency in Word
* Working knowledge of XML editing tools is preferred,
but not required
* Strong knowledge of the FAA s Air Traffic Control
Systems - ERAM/Data Comm/TBFM Programs
* Ability to interface with other functional areas to
ensure understanding of the requirements for
complete and accurate documentation of software
implementation
* Ability to independently lab verify developed
content for accuracy - leveraging available SME
resources as needed
* Ability to accurately assess work effort and adhere
to delivery schedules
* Demonstrates proficiency in computer graphics and
COTS publications
* Excellent oral and written communication skills
* Knowledge of EPIC/Arbortext a plus.
* Ability to work with minimal direction
Job Location(s): Gaithersburg, Maryland, FAA Technical
Center, NJ will consider a remote work location
Travel Required: Occasional travel may be required.
