* Northrop Grumman is seeking a Capacity Planning & Performance Engineer to join our Infrastructure Shared Services team\. This position will be based in New Carrollton, MD\.In this role you primarily will support the IRS Customer Account Data Engine 2 \(CADE 2\) project\. Qualified applicants will be subject matter experts \(SMEs\) in analyzing, making recommendations on and reporting z/OS\-based performance data \(Started Tasks, DB2, DB2 SQL, Storage Memory and CPU usage, DB2 DDF, Batch, etc\.\), as well as establishing trends and workload forecasts\.A working knowledge of real\-time monitoring tools to analyze z/OS, DB2 and applications is also required\. Successful candidate will work remote as well as on\-site at the IRS New Carrollton Federal Building as required and must be able to work both independently and as a team member\. Some travel to other IRS sites may be required\.Responsibilities:

- Write monitoring plans\. Define all analysis/planning inputs, monitoring tools to use, \(e\.g\., workload forecasts, hardware utilization trends, monitoring tools required, outputs planned from monitoring\)
- Monitor during tests\. Collect performance data\. Create and maintain historical databases of performance data from testing efforts and production processing\. Create reports analyzing performance data and make recommendations based on the results\.
- Develop application flow modules based off performance monitoring data
- Develop Timeframes and Resource Usage reports
- Collaborate in an Integrated Project Team environment with other project groups
- Participate in customer/project meetings
- Generate status updates and reports as necessaryBasic Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or Mathematics or related field, and 9 years of directly related experience or 13 years of experience in lieu of degree- Experience with performance testing and assessment methodologies and best practices- Experience with large scale code translation from Assembler to a higher level language- Knowledge of common application infrastructure components- Ability to relay and receive information- Working knowledge of database technologies \(z/OS DB2, MS Access, SQL analysis and tuning\)- Working knowledge of mainframe technologies \(z/OS, SMF, WLM, zLinux, MVS, CICS\)- Needs to be able to evaluate DB2 SQL for performance- Needs to be able to evaluate DB2 database\-related performance issues- Needs to be able to evaluate jobs, DB2 threads, started tasks for performance and capacity issues- Requires ability to obtain a Moderate Risk Background Investigation \(MBI\) security clearance; must be either a U\.S\. Citizen or possess a minimum 3 years of residency as a Lawful Permanent Resident \(LPR\) in the U\.S\.Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with FTP, MQ, Control\-M or other scheduler- Experience with Java application development- Experience with Network Attached Storage \(NAS\)- Proficient knowledge of the IRS Enterprise Life Cycle and Enterprise Architecture- Active MBI clearance- Experience porting legacy tier 1 applications to zLinux platform- Experience porting legacy tier 1 applications to Linux X86 platform- Experience with performance monitoring , tuning, and scaling large scale enterprise applications on zLinux and/or Linux x86 platforms- Working knowledge of various real\-time performance monitoring and troubleshooting tools \(Application Performance Analyzer, Omegamon z/OS, Omegamon DB2, DB2 Query Monitor\)- Working knowledge of analysis and reporting tools \(SAS/MXG, SAS, REXX, MS Access and Excel, DB2 QMF, TSO ISPF, JCL, SDSF\)Northrop Grumman is committed to hiring and retaining a diverse workforce\.
