DescriptionJoin Northrop Grumman Technical Services and be a part of the team of men and women that solve some of the world's most complex technical challenges. We will be seeking a Freshman Intern Game Designer/Developer that is experienced with game design/ development to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. Work will be performed at locations in both Suffolk, VA and Orlando, FL. The Freshman Intern will be involved and will contribute to a number of activities ranging from gameplay/level design to AI and state machine development. We are seeking only extremely motivated students passionate about game development. We are looking for candidates that love to explore and push the envelope with new cutting edge technologies. The perfect freshman intern candidate would be someone who is well familiar with all aspects of game design and development. Performs a variety of duties in the electronic, mechanical, electromechanical, or optical areas. Constructs, troubleshoots, calibrates, adjusts, tests, and maintains equipment, components, devices, or systems. Works from engineering drawings and written or verbal instructions. Operates related equipment; conducts tests and reports data in prescribed format. Performs calibration and alignment checks; makes adjustments, modifications, and replacements as directed; prepares prescribed compounds and solutions. ***At this time, the position is for the summer season (2012) and may be extended into fall (2012) dependent on the course load of the student.*** Primary Roles and Responsibilities of the Intern will include, but not be limited to:- Work on game concepts, gameplay mechanics, and entity mechanics- Show a strong passion for making the highest quality state of the art games- Fill the role of entry-level designer (3D model, layout, game design, lighting, texture maps, and character creationQualificationsMinimum Qualifications: To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:- Will require the ability to work within deadlines - Must possess time management, organization, and planning skills - Requires experience using Adobe Photoshop, Autodesk 3D studio Max and Kismet- Must have game design/development skills using the Unreal Development Kit, and 3D asset creator- Professional oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills (to communicate effectively with management and teammates) are absolutely essential Must be a U.S. Citizen to be selected. Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Preferred Qualifications: Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration:- Would prefer candidate with an eye on detail and realism.- Realistic game animation, building 3D environments and characters skills a strong plus.
