The Senior Manager, Market Research is a strategic advisor to the business they support, with an expertise in marketing research and analytical techniques. The incumbent works with Brand teams to understand business strategies, issues and needs, and develops market research strategies to deliver insights and recommendations to support strategic and tactical decision-making. Critical responsibilities for this role include, but are not limited to: Under the direction of the Associate Director, develops annual market research plans, recommends annual budgets, and manages expenses accordingly. Develops, manages and executes a wide range of qualitative and quantitative market research projects, in alignment with the Brand Plan, which will provide key strategic commercial guidance. Presents research findings that are an accurate, independent, and unbiased input to business decision making. Serves as an internal expert on market dynamics by monitoring and analyzing the therapeutic environments through integrated primary and secondary market research techniques. Anticipates future changes in the market and identifies competitive threats and opportunities. Understands potential impact of any shifts in attitudes and/or behaviors of key customers. Presents plan of action to further investigate issues and provide actionable recommendations to internal teams. Supports requests from the Associate Director, Market Research to assemble US market assessments in support of pipeline product development, in-line product management, and business development initiatives. Provides objective analysis on current and future market values and expected changes in the competitive landscape. Manages vendor relationships and acts as liaison between team and research vendors to conduct studies and competitive efforts. Seeks out, assesses, and recommends innovative market research methodologies, information sources, and vendors. Maintains and up-to-date knowledge of Pharmaceutical Industry trends and issues, especially with regards to capabilities, tools, and techniques that are relevant to functional / technical responsibilities. Bachelor s degree required. Master s preferred. 5 years U.S. pharmaceutical and/or healthcare industry market research experience required. Experience with a broad range of primary and secondary research methods (qualitative, quantitative, primary and secondary, etc.) Proficient in MS Office - Advanced Excel, Access and PowerPoint, applications. Experience with Business Objects is a strong plus. Proficient use of statistical packages (SAS, SPSS, STATA) is also preferred. Knowledge of key pharmaceutical industry data sources (e.g. IMS) including an understanding of how data is collected, accessed, and used to drive analysis is required. Experience with longitudinal patient data, managed care formulary data and non-retail data should be reasonably well developed coming into the job. Experience in common statistical analyses is a plus. Excellent qualitative and quantitative analytical skills essential. Exceptional interpersonal skills. Able to interface successfully with others at all levels of the organization. Excellent communication, time management, problem-solving, organizational, and analytical skills.
