Puppet is hiring Sales Engineers to join our Customer Success team. We re seeking someone who empathizes with our customer s needs and understands why our products help our customers become more efficient, successful and effective. In this role, you will be the technical voice in our sales process helping customers understand the value of Puppet products. You ll partner with the customer to solve their problems, demonstrating the value of Puppet products with the Sales team. You will provide product feedback based on your interaction with customers to Engineering and Product. You will ensure the customer is successful as they interact with Puppet products and services. You will conduct webinars and speak at industry events, demonstrating Puppet products and help provide the technical expertise for Proof of Concepts and presentations.


* Partner closely with Sales in order to meet quarterly and annual revenue targets.
Win the trust of customers by demonstrating technical and business acumen and empathizing with their business challenges. * Own the technical sales by guiding prospects through the technical decision making process.

* Master how to sell Puppet: from high-level introductory pitches through technical deep dives and demos and know how to gracefully maneuver back-and-forth.

* Act as trusted advisors and advocates for your customers.

* Understand Puppet s sales and customer success operations such as pipeline development, revenue forecasts, renewal rate impact, and value of overall customer success.

* Facilitate value-added activities with customers beyond just license and services revenue, e.g., community involvement, press releases, case studies, reference calls, etc.

* Actively participate in the business aspects of territory management, e.g., pipeline development, forecasts, quarterly business reviews, etc.


* Experience in a Sales Engineering role.

* Excellent technical communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present to and engage our rapidly growing customer base.

* Excellent problem-solving orientation and ability to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to technical and business problems.

* Strong industry knowledge - performance management, scaled solutions, and methodologies.

* Ability and willingness to travel 50% nationally, including but not limited to, operating a vehicle and/or riding as a passenger in a vehicle, airplane, train or other form of transportation.

* Requires the ability to perform physical activities, including but not limited to, walking, standing, lifting items up to 35 lbs. and/or using, handling and controlling tools.

* Valid driver's license

* A criminal background check may be required for this position

Preferred but not required:

* BA or BS degree in computer science or a related field.

* Experience using Puppet or other configuration management tools in a production environment.

* Experience working with internal Sales/Marketing, Engineering, and Client Services teams.

* Professional services experience in an open source or enterprise software company.

* Puppet Certification.
