The nurse is expected to practice autonomously, consistent with ANA Standards of Practice. Independent judgment is expected to be exercised within the context of inter-professional approaches to patient care. Performance expectations associated with this position are performed at the Masters level (proficient/expert). This role is a blended role of the advanced foundational understanding of the Standards and Practices of Nursing, Quality, and Regulatory. The nurse is expected to support the patient populations served through direct understanding of patient care delivery models and the ability to provide care that is evidence based. In addition to evidence based patient care, the nurse is expected to collaborate with the inter-professional team and nurse leaders to enhance quality and regulatory practices. This is achieved through a deep understanding of UC San Diego Health policies and procedures, The Joint Commission (TJC) standards, and all other regulatory requirements including but not limited to California Department of Public Health Services (DHS) and all other regulatory bodies. The role requires the ability to navigate spheres of influence to develop programs related to improving quality or regulatory compliance that is congruent with larger organizational initiatives. The nurse will provide care within a proven quality framework and evidence based practice to identify and redesign care to improve patient and family outcomes. Supports and facilitates the development of collegial relationships among the inter-professional team to achieve patient, unit, and organizational goals.
MSN; preferably with focus in Nursing Leadership and/or Health Care Administration.
RN license issued by the state of California.
BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART w/in 6 months of hire date.
Minimum three years acute hospital experience
Proficient with information systems and computer programs such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, planning and leadership skills.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Able to work effectively in a team environment and with patients and their families.
Experience in a teaching hospital.
Recent RN experience in quality, regulatory and compliance, evidenced based practice, process improvement.
Must be able to work various hours, days, shifts, on-call and various locations based on the 24-hour Medical Center's business needs.
This position will cover both days and nights, and length of shift will vary. The majority will be a mix of 8 and 12 hour shifts. Some weekends and holidays required.
