This position provides direct nursing care to Women s pelvic medicine and urology patients for phone triage, point of care lab services, and all clinical services, supporting physicians, nurse practitioners, fellow, residents and medical students providing clinical procedures. The Supervisor supervises all clinical support staff, including medical assistants, LVN and RN staff. Expert documentation of all services is required in the electronic medical record. This practitioner level position works collaboratively with physician providers in gynecology and urology and requires a high level of independence and clinical skills. The functional demands and activity level are identified as medium to high. This position reports to the nurse manager and works collaboratively to manage the supervision of clinical support staff including triaging phone calls from patients, managing lab results and delegating tasks to medical assistants and LVN's as appropriate. The position requires assessment of clinical data and provision of age appropriate care. This position is responsible to assure all regulatory and accreditation standards are met and staff remains compliant. This position is responsible to assure all point of care laboratory standards are met. In addition the Supervisor encourages, teaches and mentors the clinical support staff in the provision of patient care.

The Clinical Nurse Supervisor plans, schedules and organizes work for the unit, ensuring proper distribution of assignments and efficient utilization of personnel, space and facilities. This position supervises staff, screens candidates, and assists with the interviewing and hiring of new employees. The Clinical Nurse-Supervisor ensures staff competence by conducting performance appraisals, counseling staff and taking disciplinary action as required in consultation with nursing management and Human Resources/Labor Relations. This position works in collaboration with House Supervisors and Nurse Managers to ensure safe and effective patient flow.




RN license issued by the State of California.

BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within 6 months of hire date.

Minimum three (3) years of experience as an RN in an outpatient setting.

Minimum two (2) years of recent RN experience in women's health or urology.

Experience must include clinical/ambulatory experience with some experience in a supervisory/lead role.

Knowledge of, and working experience with, TJC and CMS regulatory standards.

Experience with telephone triage, working as an RN clinic coordinator, and experience with assisting MD's with procedures.

Excellent interpersonal and planning skills to interact with physicians and staff at various skill and licensure level.

Ability to communicate proficiently orally and in writing including a facility with public speaking.

Able to work effectively in a team environment and with patients and their families.

Compassionate caregiver with a holistic perspective of patient and family-centered care.

Leadership ability that includes facility with peer coaching.

Possess and maintain expert knowledge of disease processes, the continuum of care, and services/resources available to the patient and family.

Ability to access best practice evidence through formal literature search.

Ability to design basic research protocol.





Women's pelvic medicine/urology patient care experience.

Experience in outpatient telephone triage.

Management experience.

Clinical Nurse Leader Certification.

Clinical area certification or nursing administration certification.

Bilingual: English/Spanish.



Must be able to work various hours, days, shifts, on-call and various locations based on the 24-hour Medical Center's business needs.

Must have willingness to perform and provide direct nursing care to gynecology patients for procedures and clinical services.
