The Application Analyst for the Clinical Systems Epic Population Health will actively contribute to an innovative team dedicated to establishing a new foundation for advancing clinical delivery and quality outcomes. Fulfill multiple roles throughout the development, implementation, management, and on-going support of UCSD Medical Center's comprehensive clinical information systems.

Gain knowledge of the Epic EMR software, as well as medical center operations and workflow, and will work closely with the project team's senior application analysts and clinical leaders to translate business needs into EMR functionality. Independently build complex data sets, master files and reports, perform quality assurance and integrated testing, and release new functionality to end-users.

Responsible for reviewing vendor software releases and updates to test features desired and then implement them within UCSD Medical Center's system(s). Assist in maintaining current test and training environments and will participate in training end-users. Provides 7/24 problem management support and resolution for clinical systems. Be an integral part of the Population Health Team supporting Population Health needs for the ACO.

This position will enable harmonization between the clinical enterprise ACO workflows and Epic EMR Healthy Planet activities. In addition to identification of technology solutions for key ACO workflows, the Application Analyst will deploy a number of Epic Healthy Planet tools that support effective care management.

Epic Healthy Planet tools include Patient Outreach, Patient Goals, Registry based Navigator Support, Best Practice Advisory, Longitudinal Plan of Care, Chronic Disease Registries, and Workbench Reports. Will actively contribute to an innovative team dedicated to establishing a new foundation for advancing clinical delivery and quality outcomes.



A Bachelor's Degree; or equivalent experience.

Proven experience and proven success in information systems development within a large-scale healthcare organization.

Clinical background and experience that provides understanding of healthcare operations and basic clinical care delivery.

Demonstrated experience and proven expertise in problem-solving and debugging techniques.

Demonstrated experience in a clinical setting.

Proven ability in specification development, quantitative methods, system documentation and change management.

Proven ability to effectively use vendor-provided and/or other computing tools to tailor systems and applications to meet specifications and user requirements.

Ability to plan and organize day-to-day activities along with short and long-term projects.



Proven experience as a major participant in a clinical system implementation.

Experience with Epic Systems' clinical systems products.

Implementation or end-user experience with Computerized Provider Order Entry and Clinical

Documentation systems Healthcare experience.

Epic-Certified in Epic Care Ambulatory EMR and or Epic Care Healthy Planet EMR.


Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
