Hartz has been in business for 90+ years, and the Manager Quality Assurance position is based in Pleasant Plain, Ohio.

Position Profile:

This position is responsible for leading and representing all quality related activities and regulatory activities for the Pleasant Plain, Ohio facility. These activities include compliance with all Federal, State and Local regulations regarding the manufacturing and distribution of products at the site. Successful implementation and on-going success of the Total Quality program in the organization. This position provides leadership support to the plant management team, leadership and functional direction to other in-plant departments and personnel to assist them in; the level of quality produced; decreasing the cost of meeting quality standards and ensuring that plant operations meet all applicable regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities:

Lead and manage the day to day activities of the Quality department Staff.
*

Provide support on long term projects that impact Quality and business decisions.
*

Lead Out of Specification (OOS) investigations, the Corrective Action and Preventative Action (CAPA) processes.
*

Approve SOPs and validation protocols.
*

Manage the document control system and archives.
*

Assess product, compliance and operational risks to develop effective risk management strategies.
*

Conduct period internal reviews or audits to ensure that compliance procedures are followed.
*

Direct internal investigations regarding compliance issues.
*

Oversee and monitor activities for compliance with Company, State and Federal regulations.
*

Develop, disseminate and enforce regulatory strategies, polices and guidelines.
*

Conduct feasibility and user test cases to identify, escalate and resolve problems.
*

Collaborate with technical and operations personnel to refine and enforce compliance.
*

Compile and evaluate regulatory submissions, renewals, variations and maintenance logs.
*

Create common business specific quality measurements and track improvement.
*

Manage quality improvement activities. .
*

Develop and maintain quality assurance standards and processes.

* Monitor adherence to SOPs, CGMP/cGLPs, Food Safety, and HACCP regulations through documented plant/lab audits and informal daily observations.

Qualifications:

*

Possess a BA/BS degree in chemistry, biology, or engineering from an accredited college.
*

A minimum of 6-8 years experience in a quality management position; food, consumer products and/or pharmaceutical systems preferred.
*

Individual must be self-motivated, creative, assertive, and possess excellent interpersonal/verbal/written communication skills.
*

Advanced knowledge relative to cGMP, GLP s, HACCP, FSMA, and Food Safety along with regulatory agencies (i.e., FDA, EPA).
*

Advanced knowledge and technical expertise of laboratory techniques and instrumentation.
*

Must possess excellent computer skills with a strong working knowledge of basic computer software (i.e., Excel).
*

Knowledgeable with microbiology and laboratory processes/procedures/analytical methods/instrumentation.
*

Knowledgeable in the fields of pest control and sanitation.



Conditions:

* Travel to corporate facilities and various contract/supplier locations (both domestic and international), although minimal, is required.

* Position entails working in a plant environment during quality related activities (i.e., manufacturing, laboratory, warehouse, auditing, etc.).

* Working hours may vary depending on department and corporate requirements.
