Marine Alignment Engineer - On Site Machinist - Gulf Coast Region
Not Currently Open for International Assignment

In this function you will perform shipboard alignment services for our customers including:

The measurement and alignment of machines making use of dial indicators, laser alignment equipment and 3D measurement equipment.

Set-up and operate a range of manual lathes, mills, boring bars and other standard shop equipment when performing tight tolerance machining;

Extensive travel as required.

Job Requirements :
You have several years of proven technical experience and are able to meet the following the job requirements:

Safety
Complete all SKF and site specific safety training.
Ensure that Job Safety Analysis (JSA) forms are developed and reviewed prior to performing any work or job task assigned.
Inspect and wear all required PPE per the JSA.
Report any unsafe conditions or near misses.
Attend regular safety huddles / meetings with the service team.
Ask questions if unclear of any situation or if needed.

Communication
Communicate in a professional manner with the customer, service coordinator, fellow workers, manager of marine services, and all stakeholders.
Communicate with engineering team in The Netherlands .
Discuss daily activities with the service engineers. Pre-work and post work discussions.
Regular customer meetings to review findings.
Use company phone and email to clearly communicate with other in a timely manner.

Strategic Account Management
Develop a strong partnership with all customers and maintain a healthy relationship.
Stay engaged with the service team from the Netherlands, service coordinator, and manager of marine services to help with sales opportunity, bearing growth, and monitor activities for positive outcomes.

Professionalism
Be on time for work and ready to start your daily tasks.
Wear your uniform and look professional.
A professional attitude is expected at all times. Be polite, courteous, and respectful of all individuals.
We expect you to work well as both an induvial and in a team environment.
Employees are expected to put in a full day s work, hours may vary depending on customer requirements.
SKF Service Delivery is a 24/7 365 operation and technicians may be required to work overtime including weekends and holidays as customers request, as well as outside the US.

Training
High school, vocational, engineering or technical degree preferred.
2 - 5 years of experience in the field
Work with Service Coordinator and Manager of Marine Services for agreement on your Individual Development Plan (IDP). Your plan should reflect your current and future career goals.
On Site Machining Equipment.
Alignment of Rotating Equipment.

Time Management
Complete assigned tasks in a timely manner. Look for ways to constantly improve processes for service projects.
Generate and deliver customer reports in a timely manner.
Communicate with your supervisor any discrepancies.

Time / Expense Reporting
Time should be entered on a weekly basis or per current requirements.
Ensure that work orders are issued prior to work being started.
Manage working hours as to be in compliance with contracts.
Manage overtime hours.
Manage PTO and plan for scheduling needs.
All travel and expenses are to comply with the SKF travel and expense policy

Accountability
Follow SKF Code of Conduct and corporate compliance guidelines.
All SKF employees are accountable for their actions
You will be expected to abide by SKF and customer confidentially agreements.

Knowledge
Extensive experience in performing projects using Laser Alignment equipment, dial indicators, strain gauge measurements, and use of the Faro Laser Tracker.
Proficient with performing On Site Machining Projects.
Able to work with Microsoft Office Suite

Understand and comprehend SKF Alignment techniques and tolerances.

Understand and comprehend Machining tolerances.

Travel
Company Truck would be provided.
Extensive travel will be required to perform service projects. Potential training courses in Europe.

You are a self starter and can plan your time for effective utilization and allocation of your resources.

You have strong business, people, communication and professional skills.

You are fluent in spoken and written English.

You have a strong desire and enjoy a career in the Marine industry.
