Role & Team Description:
Review and evaluate the overall mechanical design and assembly method at the early design stages to ensure that the product is best in class by working closely with development teams to reduce or eliminate design conflicts. Work in partnership with all engineering disciplines, suppliers, and support groups to ensure smooth transition of the products from the prototype factory into the high volume lead manufacturing site. Support the outsourced suppliers (OEMs) to ensure that the final product is shipped at a 6-sigma quality level.
Position is based in Chicago, IL.
Scope of Responsibilities:
Collaborate with the design team to optimize assembly of product in the concept and prototype phase. Co-Design the fixtures used for assembly of parts into the phone. Eliminate DPHU found during prototype build. Work with the lead manufacturing site to ensure a smooth ramp and meet schedule. Position Requirements
5 years minimum experience in a NPI or manufacturing role.
BS in Mechanical Engineering required.
MS degree in Mechanical Engineering
Understanding of tolerance analysis. Pro-E, statistics (green or black belt), DFA and Boothroyd-Dewhurst knowledge a plus
