1)PROCESS ENGINEER - PRIMARY OPERATIONS

JOB PURPOSE AND REPORTING STRUCTURE Under the direction of the Operations Manager for Primary Operations, the Staff / Senior Process Engineer is responsible for improving processes of Primary Operations. The incumbent will be required to prepare, review and update processes and work practices to improve electric arc furnace processing, melting and casting processes, quality, yield and productivity, and reduce costs. Primary Operations processing includes Arc Furnace conversion of beryllium oxide to beryllium-copper master alloy and melting and casting product billets and ingots in a variety of copper, nickel, and aluminum based alloys for the division's Strip and Bulk Value streams.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

* Provide technical support for Primary Operations: Whiting Arc Furnace, Induction Melting and Casting (Old and New Cast Shops), and Furnace Rebuild.
* Prepare, review and update Primary Operations processes and work practices to improve safety, quality, process reliability, and to reduce costs.
* Improve operations using engineering and problem solving tools (such as six sigma, lean manufacturing methods, statistics, and data analysis).
* Initiate, lead, track, and report progress on projects to improve electrical arc furnace, melting and casting, yield and productivity. Lead project teams.
* Maintain technical surveillance on key operating parameters and report as needed.
* Assist operations in developing operator proficiency in electric arc furnace operations, melting and casting, and other processing.
* Partner with and support customers for improved processes, products, and services.
* Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

* The position requires a Bachelors of Science degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Materials or Metallurgical Engineering. Masters degree in Engineeringpreferred.
* The Staff Engineer requires 5-9years of metal processing experience. The Senior Engineer requires 10+ years of metal processing experience.
* Effective facilitation skills and ability to supervise operating personnel required.
* Communication with customers, vendors, peers and cross functional teams is required.
* Strong investigation and problem solving skills required.
* Experience using Microsoft Office software is required.
* Experience conducting engineering projects using statistical, data driven approaches is preferred.
* SAP / ERP experiencepreferred.
* Certified Green Belt or Black Belt in Lean Manufacturing / Six Sigma methods is preferred.
* Strong experience with induction furnace, furnace refractories and refractory systems, and arc furnace operations
* Strong experience with dust collection and ventilation systems is preferred.
* Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen or be a lawful Permanent Resident of the United States.
* 2)PROCESS ENGINEER - BULK METAL PROCESSING DEPT
* Under the direction of the Operations Manager, the Process Engineer is continuously improving the Bulk manufacturing processes to provide better product characteristics, lower costs, quicker cycle times, and better use of assets. This position is also required to perform all supervisory responsibility over the Bulk Engineering Staff.

* ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
* Gain an in-depth technical knowledge of Processing Equipment.
* Organizing and leading equipment maintenance and equipment enhancement efforts.
* Respond quickly and decisively to machine break downs and product quality issues all shifts/all days.
* Lead project teams.
* Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures for processes.
* Develop process control systems to ensure consistent product quality.
* Oversee the manufacture of quality products.
* Meet with operators regularly for training and seek feedback.
* Develop and maintain process routings for products.
* Assess capability for new product inquiries and develop cost quotations.
* Assist customers and work with Sales, R&D and QA in the resolution of customer issues and complaints.
* Support the Lean Sigma program.
* Provide data analysis and statistical process control.
* Support the Safety Program including leading department safety teams.
* Process Engineer assigned to the Heat Treat Furnaces must be trained in NADCAP Pyrometry within a year of taking on the assignment. (In case of a re-organization, the Pyrometry responsibility could be transferred to another position within the Bulk Process Engineering Group.)

* Effective facilitation skills and ability to work with all levels of the organization.
* Solid mechanical and controls aptitude.
* Willingness to learn new skills, work habits and procedures.
* Computer proficiency in spreadsheets and data analysis.
* Ability to initiate creative processing methods.
