JOB DESCRIPTIONThe Project Manager will lead a portfolio of strategic projects targeted at advancing the goals of the Northwestern Medicine Strategic Plan with an emphasis on institutional level initiatives that integrate people, process and technology. Project Manager will facilitate early stage strategy and project plan development with the Senior Management team and, for select projects, lead the execution phase to project closure. The portfolio of projects will primarily consist of efforts defined within the Administration Division, but span organizational boundaries. The Project Manager reflects the mission, vision, and values of Northwestern Memorial, adheres to the organization's Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards. Manage and direct multiple medium to large scale enterprise projects using strong integration skills to effectively coordinate all aspects of a project or program. Translate generalized customer business goals and objectives into concrete strategy and tactical plans. Work effectively with Senior Management, internal and external project stakeholders, third party vendors in defining, communicating and accomplishing project objectives.
Evaluate complex situations and project risks accurately and identify viable solutions that create successful project outcomes for the customer. Utilize and apply an understanding of budgeting, project management and resource management to assigned projects. Demonstrated presentation and written communication skills, including proposal writing. Apply strong facilitation and negotiation skills to lead project meetings and achieve project results. Demonstrated ability to 'get things done' and execute on stated goals and plans. Has the ability to deal with a changing environment and to lead/facilitate and manage change efficiently and effectively where appropriate. Unquestionable integrity, credibility and character with demonstrated high moral, ethical behavior. Shared/Common Skills: Customer and Subject Matter Focus: Utilizes talents, skills, and knowledge in all assignments for the purpose of delivering excellent service to all team members (NM team, NM Executives, NM affiliates, vendor partners, etc.).
Guides program of standard project management methodologies, value measurement, and project reporting tools. Guides preparation and delivery of services by seeking a thorough understanding of subject matter, regulations, specific project requirements, customer requirements, tasks and information needs. Business and Clinical Knowledge: Understands the major business and clinical processes impacted by key technology and compliance initiatives at NMH. Advocates the effective use of effective and proven project management methodologies and budget management techniques to manage defined project objectives on-time and on-budget. Personal Organization and Adaptation: Responds thoroughly and promptly to customer needs as defined in conjunction with our customers. Actively manages customer/peer relationships and quickly identifies issues follows them through to closure, using oversight guidance as needed. Adapts well to rapid change and multiple, demanding priorities. Seeks to improve talents and skills consistent with overall NMH direction. Team/Interpersonal: Communicates clearly, responsively, and purposely with all project team members. Focuses on team success and promotes collaborative efforts with others. Shifts easily among different business, technical, clinical and financial topics and project roles as required by situation. AA/EOE.
* Minimum requirement of Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, Healthcare Management or related field.
* Minimum 10 years experience in healthcare and/or information systems.
* Cumulative of 8 years of leadership and/or project management experience.
* Demonstrated capability to manage projects with budgets in excess of $1,000,000.
* Demonstrated project management skills.
* Excellent oral and communication skills.
* Demonstrated ability to effectively establish and maintain working relationships with peers and constituents at all levels of the organization.
* Demonstrated analysis and problem solving skills.
* Demonstrated leadership capabilities.
* Experience working with and negotiating with external vendors.
* Masters in related field preferred.
* Project Management Institute, Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification desired.
