To provide technical and analytical support to Packaging Department and Blending Operations.

Collect and analyze incoming bulk ingredients, save samples as required. Analyze process from concentrate through filtration using refractometer, spectrophotometer, turbidimeter, titrator, colorimeter and vitamin C titrator using specifications to ensure raw product integrity. Monitor finished product quality using before mentioned instruments. Maintain accurate, detailed and complete documentation to ensure finished product integrity. Maintain communication with operators and supervisors.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. All of the following are to be performed while adhering to Tree Top operational policies, safety rules, specifications, methods, procedures and good manufacturing practices. This position may be responsible for completing essential duties and responsibilities of the Packaging Technician position in the event that only one line is running. It is the responsibility of every employee at Tree Top Inc. to report food safety and food quality problems or risks to personnel with the authority to initiate action against these said possible risks. The Organization chart indicated key personnel with the authority to take action.

* Collect and Analyze Incoming Bulk Ingredients:

* Collect samples as notified

* Analyze samples using proper methods and procedures as specified in specification

* Document and compare results to specifications

* Compare product flavor to appropriate flavor reference standards

* Inform appropriate personnel of results, initiate corrective actions as needed

* Collect and Analyze Juice Samples Prior to Filtration:

* Collect raw tank, treatment tank, decanter and centrifuge and filter samples

* Analyze sames per procedures document and compare to specifications

* Inform appropriate personnel of results, initiate corrective actions as needed

* Ensure Quality of product prior & after Concentration:

* Collect filter and concentrate samples hourly

* Analyze samples using lab equipment

* Document and compare results to specifications

* Inform appropriate personnel of results, initiate corrective actions as needed

* Finalize analysis on finished concentrate tank, assign lot # and record final tank gallons on appropriate form

* Collect, Analyze and Monitor Batching of Tanks:

* Collect sample of batch tank

* Analyze sample for vitamin c, brix, acid, color, solids and flavor using lab equipment and reference standards

* Document and compare results to specifications

* inform blender of results and perform any necessary rechecks until batch meets specification

* Provide Accurate Analytical Results and Blending Assistance:

* Demonstrate correct methods and procedures during product analysis

* Provide timely results to ensure process continuity

* Assist in ascorbic acid adjustment when product does not meet specification

* Maintain equipment calibration

* Collect, Analyze and Monitor Finished Product:

* Collect finished product samples hourly or as stated per customer requirements

* Analyze samples using lab equipment

* Document and compare results to specifications

* Compare product flavor to appropriate flavor reference standards

* Shut line down and collect recheck during out of specification situation

* Inform appropriate personnel of results, initiate corrective actions as needed

* Prioritize analysis to ensure line efficiency and productivity

* Incoming Tanker Inspection, Unloading and Outgoing:


* Support 10% Finished Product Hold Reduction & 5% Consumer Complaint Reduction:

* Compare all production samples to reference standards to ensure flavors and textures meet product profiles

* Communicate quality concerns with Supervisor before releasing questionable products for packaging

* Immediately shut down processes not meeting specification while rechecking results

* Isolate questionable product and minimize product held through thorough analysis of product

* Verify container and case coding matches daily production schedule.

* Communicate with Key Personnel:

* Notify supervisor(s) when product does not meet specifications

* Communicate with supervisor(s)

* Offer ideas to solve problems

* Maintain Paperwork:

* Gather proper paperwork for analysis of juice

* Record and complete analysis worksheets and lot # log

* Document any problems and corrective actions on Quality Log

* Turn in all documentation to file tray provided in work area

* Collect Required Samples:

* Collect micro, retain, audit and customer finished product samples

* Label individual samples with required information

* Deliver samples to the proper area.

* Maintain Work Environment:

* Support 95% minimum G.M.P. audit scores by adhering to G.M.P. regulations, suggesting improvement ideas and reporting out of compliance situations

* Adhere to Good Manufacturing requirements by washing hands at admission to production areas

* Prepare reagents according to procedure, leaving enough for the next shift

* Maintain work area cleanliness and organization

* Stock necessary supplies

* Stock and rotate flavor comparison samples

* Prepare apple juice flavor reference samples daily

* Flavor and texture score batch and finished product samples using prepared standards for apple juice, retained sample for all other blends and 4.0 flavor and texture applesauce standards

* Knowledge of Lab Equipment:

* Calibrate equipment daily using approved method

* Verify calibration within operating parameters

* Clean equipment daily to ensure optimum performance

* Operate equipment using approved method

* Troubleshoot misinformation or malfunction, initiate corrective actions as needed

* Be Aware of Safety Hazards:

* Maintain awareness of forklift traffic

* Watch out for and report spills. Leaks, infractions, and malfunctions.

* Use MSDS sheets and appropriate personal protective equipment when handling chemicals

* Support reduction of accidents by 50% and lost time days by 25% by personally adhering to safety practices, constant awareness of surrounding/environment and using the talking with approach with co-workers when you see them committing an unsafe act

* Train Co-Workers:

* Familiarize co-workers with sample collection sites

* Train analytical methods and procedures

* Evaluate trainee is following correct methods, procedures and specifications

* Ensure Compliance to Food Safety and Plant Security

* Comply with Company Policies regarding admission to company property when not scheduled for work

* Question anyone you see unaccompanied in the plant without a Visitor Badge

* Do not leave limited access areas unlocked when out of area

* Do not accept ingredients without proper seals and documentation
