Position Description

Domtar is currently seeking a reliability engineer for our Ashdown, AR Mill. This position reports to the Continuous Improvement Manager and is responsible for championing the development of sustainable, reliable processes using continuous improvement methodologies and sound reliability principles, focusing on the Power, Pulp/Woodyard and Paper/Converting departments. This role will work with process owners from operations, maintenance and all support teams to accomplish sustainable results.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:


Monitoring effectiveness of mill s reliability program by monitoring designated KPI s (ensuring metric accuracy and utilizing metrics to identify improvement opportunities).

Identifying & implementing improvements in process & equipment reliability across the Mill by reviewing historical data and performing RCFA while working closely with operations & maintenance personnel.
* Supporting the continued implementation and continuous improvement of the essential care and condition monitoring (ECCM) and preventative maintenance (PM) programs to ensure sustainability and integrity of the program.


Training and supporting DMSI and SAP users in designated areas to ensure data integrity and process understanding

Monitoring ECCM/DMSI route data/alarms to initiate corrective and preventive actions.


Maintaining and continuously improving the precision maintenance program through documentation and work execution.

Position Requirements

Required Qualifications


BS in a Technical or Engineering field or equivalent work experience

3 years of work experience in a manufacturing environment

Proven knowledge of reliability systems, methods and processes

Past leadership experience

Preferred Qualifications


Pulp and Paper experience preferred

MS Office and MS Project knowledge preferred

CMMS SAP experience or equivalent preferred

Knowledge of Lean/Six Sigma methods and processes preferred

DMSI/MAINTelligence knowledge preferred

Knowledge of lubrication best practices preferred

Knowledge of industrial equipment and modes of failure preferred
