JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Description:

The Research Associate responsibilities will include assisting in a research group in developing novel pulse sequences for the 3T and 1.5T MRI scanners using C++, acquiring multi-dimensional MR Spectroscopic techniques in breast and prostate cancer, and post-processing the data using commercial and home developed mat lab codes. IDEA Programming: prior knowledge in using Siemens IDEA pulse programming (C++) compilers meant for different platforms. Combine echo planar imaging and concentric circular encoding schemes with MRS localization including adiabatic RF pulses for spatial boundary optimization; simulate the pulse sequence on the compiler and further optimization. Design novel spatial and spectroscopic encoding schemes. VAPOR suppression of water and MEGA-PRESS for water and fat suppression. Acquire MR Imaging and MR Spectroscopy: acquire 3D MP-RAGE, DTI and ASL. To acquire multi-dimensional MR spectroscopic data in 1) women with breast cancer and healthy subject's men with prostate cancer (malignant/benign) and healthy prostates. To record abdominal MRI (DIXON) and calf muscle MRS in diabetic type 2 and healthy subjects. To post-process the MR images using vendor-provided and other commercial and non-commercial software packages. Acquire MR Imaging and MR Spectroscopy: acquire 3D MP-RAGE, DTI and ASL. To acquire multi-dimensional MR spectroscopic data in 1) women with breast cancer and healthy subjects. men with prostate cancer (malignant/benign) and healthy prostates. Packages. Preparing MRS phantoms and optimization of novel MR Spectroscopic Imaging techniques: To prepare phantoms mimicking brain, breast, prostate, liver and calf muscle metabolites.

Job Qualifications:

BS/MS degree in Biomedical Engineering, Physics, Chemical Physics or related field with 2+ years laboratory experience. Prior experience working with 3T/7T/1.5T MRI and MR Spectroscopy. Knowledge of MATLAB and C++. Basic knowledge of MR Physics (MRI and MR Spectroscopy). Knowledge of medical and scientific terminology Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
