JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Description:

Direct patient care for the Hematology/Oncology Patient Population undergoing treatment and infusions. Care also afforded for thsoe patients from other specialties undegoing treatment: rheumatology, immunology, dermatology, research and other transplant services. The nurse is responisible for performing assessments of their patients and implementing the plan of care. Nurses work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team to evaluate the goals of care for a patient and to direct any care management decisions. Other responsibilities include, patient education, instilling patient safety and promoting applying critical thinking in managing the care of patients while incorporating best practices.

Job Qualifications:

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, current active California R.N. licensure. Clinical skills applicable to nursing specialty, Oncology. Ability to perform historical, physical and behavioral status assessments of patients using appropriate framework. Demonstrated skill in the delivery of patient care, utilizing team, and total, primary or functional systems. Skill in implementing appropriate nursing interventions on a consistent basis. Writing skills to document accurately interventions and patient response. Ability to develop and implement and evaluate patient care plan actively involving patients, family, and staff. Knowledge of POMR charting. Skill in setting priorities, organizing workload to effectively administer direct patient care. Skill in speaking English clearly and distinctly to interpret and describe patient assessments and identify nursing interventions and direct staff. Ability to work effectively with stress and in crisis situations Ability to comply with departmental standards on punctuality, attendance, dress code and varied work schedules. Knowledge and practice in the proper use of safe body mechanics.

BSN/MSN required

2 years or greater of oncology experience, required

2 years of chemotherapy infusion experience, preferred

Active Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Certification, required

BCLS

Original diploma or official transcripts from your nursing program required upon hire
