JOB DESCRIPTIONPURPOSE OF YOUR JOB DESCRIPTION:
A Registered professional nurse is responsible for delivery of outpatient infusion and treatments to a varied population. The RN directs and guides patient teaching on diagnosis, treatment, drugs, diet, and lifestyle changes while maintaining standards of professional nursing. The RN works directly with physicians, pharmacist and registration coordinating and scheduling treatment for the patient.
DELEGATION OF AUTHORITY:
Under the direction of Clinical Coordinator and Nursing Supervisor you are delegated the administrative authority, responsibility and accountability necessary for carrying out your assigned duties.

PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENT / DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
ASSESSES PHYSICAL, PSYCHOLOGICAL, AND SOCIAL DINEMSIONS OF THE PATIENT:
Applies knowledge of illnesses, injuries, and diseases and uses available resources in assessment process.
Provides written assessment of patient and documents nursing interventions, patient response, effectiveness and complications.
IMPLEMENTS PLAN OF CARE:
Implements clinical and technical aspects of care and nursing orders in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Intervenes with proper technique, procedure, and safety precautions to meet individual needs of patient.
Functions within the limits of State Nurse Practice Act, hospital and nursing department policies and procedures.
Works directly with physicians and pharmacy to coordinate medication orders.
Maintains office schedule working with physician and patients and coordinating after hour appointments.
PATIENT AND FAMILY INSTRUCTION/EDUCATION:
Assesses, plans, and implements instruction for patient and family needs.
PROFESSIONAL LEADERSHIP: Reports patient care or management problems to Clinical Coordinator and/or supervisor when necessary and investigates and intervenes in problem situations reporting appropriate information.
UNIT REQUIREMENTS: Demonstrates ability to care for patients in various age groups, pediatrics to geriatrics.
Demonstrates a working knowledge and safe use of medications specific to the Outpatient Infusion patient population. i.e. chemotherapy.
Understands signs and symptoms of drug reactions.
Ability to care for a variety of IV lines, i.e. PICC, Portacath.
PERSONAL GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT: Identifies own learning needs and seeks opportunities for self growth, using and sharing skills gained through continuing education classes.
Maintains chemotherapy certification.
Has completed annual nursing competencies.
Has attended annual mandatory day.
AGE SPECIFIC COMPETENCY: Evaluates for age-appropriate behavior, motor skills, and physiological norms of patients, recognizing a patient's psychological development and modifies approaches for patients.
Interview and communication techniques are age-appropriate.
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS: Respects dignity and confidentiality of patient
Provides safe and secure environment for the patient
Previous year goal
MA RN nursing license
2 years experience with recent outpatient oncology experience
Skilled in IV insertion and management of central lines
Experience with EPIC EMR
