Job Description:
United States Steel Corporation has an immediate opening for a Sales Associate Account Manager at our Automotive Center in Troy, MI. An Associate Account Manager serves as the primary source of contact with current and prospective customers. The successful candidate will work closely with both multi-national and small to medium sized customers. This critical position requires engagement with the Sales and Operations Planning Teams as well as other key marketing, business planning and operating functions. The Associate Account Manager must possess the willingness, knowledge and skills necessary to effectively and independently manage customer demands.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Support execution of sales strategies to expand business and increase market share, especially in the AHSS arena;
Responsible to accurately manage the quotation process, including the negotiation of pricing commitments with customers on a spot, monthly, quarterly or annual basis. Prepare monthly quotation metric reports and feedback.
Develop Key Account Profiles for prospective new customers in line with segment and material strategies;
Assist in solicitation of prospective customers and develops their business in the best interests of United States Steel Corporation while cultivating mutually constructive business relationships with industry professionals and associations.
Obtains purchase commitments from existing customers and increases United States Steel Corporation participation in their business.
Facilitates sales and service activities across numerous entities within United States Steel Corporation while acting as the primary source of contact with customer base to ensure customer satisfaction and retention.
Actively manages account base while seeking to optimize participation, profitability, forecasting, inventory management, and shipping performance.
Communicates market conditions, competitive intelligence, product development, and other key business drivers with United States Steel Corporation commercial stakeholders.
Assist Account Managers and Sales Directors on maintaining and deepening relationships with key accounts, as needed.

Preferred Skills:
Education, Skills, and Knowledge:

Bachelor s degree in business administration, marketing, supply chain management or a closely related field OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
At least two years of experience in a steel/ metals industry or automotive parts, systems or components industry, within sales, customer service or closely related function. Exposure to flat rolled products is a plus.
Ability and willingness to travel up to 30% within North America.
Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills, with the ability to work well with various levels of customer and corporate management
Ability to work independently with excellent time management and follow-up skills.
Ability to use and proficiently navigate common business software packages (Microsoft Office 365, Word, Excel w/ pivot tables, PowerPoint), as well as proprietary sales and marketing platforms
Strong communication and relationship building skills
