JOB DESCRIPTION

The Asst. Superintendent assumes a supporting role in the responsibility for managing and maintaining the designated golf course, driving range, scheduling of staff, training and supervising maintenance staff to be efficient and to attain a high quality of work, member and guest satisfaction. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: - Instructing and training employees on the operation and care of the golf course and the associated equipment. - Supervising the maintenance of the greens, fairways, tees, rough, nurseries, and all facets of the courses. - Attending meetings and seminars in order to further the education in agronomic and turf management practices. - Calibrating and supervising chemical and fertilizer applications. - Maintaining detailed reports on fertilizer and chemical applications. - A supporting role in managing, disciplining, evaluating personnel on job performance and completing performance evaluations. - Supporting the agronomic practices and development of those practices View and play golf at other courses to ensure playability of courses and learn new techniques. NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: - Maintains the Golf Operations facility in a neat, clean and orderly manner. - Keeps and ensures that all equipment is maintained in a neat and clean manner. - Supervises Resort grounds when asked and when necessary. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: Experience: * At least 1-3 years experience in the Golf Course Maintenance Industry. * College graduate in Agronomy or turf related field. * Licensed in Pesticide Application with in six- months of employment. * Has experience in managing a Golf Course maintenance staff. Skills and Abilities: * Takes responsibility and ownership for the department and staff. * Manage multiple tasks and projects at the same time. * Ability to set priorities/goals for ones self and others. * Ability to manage people & golf course in all of the courses facets.
