SolarCity is looking for a Stucco and Drywall Technician who will be responsible for repairing and patching stucco and drywall for our valued residential customers. In this position, the Stucco and Drywall Technician will communicate job status data to the operations team and ensure the completion of quality stucco and drywall repairs. It is the responsibility of every Stucco and Drywall Technician to ensure safe work practices for the operations team.
Stucco and drywall repairs for residential customers
Mix mortar and plaster to desired consistency or direct workers to perform mixing
Create decorative textures in finish coat, using brushes or trowels, sand, pebbles, or stones
Apply insulation to building exteriors by installing prefabricated insulation systems over existing walls or by covering the outer wall with insulation board, reinforcing mesh, and a base coat
Mix paint, ingredients, or chemicals, according to specification
Cure freshly plastered surfaces
Clean and prepare surfaces for applications of plaster, cement, stucco, or similar materials, such as by drywall taping
Rough the undercoat surface with a scratcher so the finish coat will adhere
Apply weatherproof, decorative coverings to exterior surfaces of buildings, such as by troweling or spraying on coats of stucco
Install guide wires on exterior surfaces of buildings to indicate thickness of plaster or stucco and nail wire mesh, lath, or similar materials to the outside surface to hold stucco in place
Spray acoustic materials or texture finish over walls or ceilings
Mold or install ornamental plaster pieces, panels, or trim
Ensure the customer s home is left in the same condition prior to the installation process
Clean-up of job site
Attend mandatory training sessions on new products, installation methodology and safety
Additional duties required as needed
At least 2 years of experience with residential stucco or drywall repair, removal, re-texturing or installation
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work, including customers
Ability to work in challenging environments (hot sun, cold wind, tight spaces, etc.)
Ability to stand for long stretches of time, and to work at heights (willing and able to work on roofs, climb ladders and stairs)
Ability to safely handle tools and materials commonly found in the construction and solar industries, such as: ladders, inverters, solar panels, panel boards and other similar electrical equipment, lumber, roofing materials, etc
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong technical and critical thinking skills
Thrive in a team environment
Regular, reliable and predictable attendance required
High school diploma or GED required
Ability to clear our pre-employment criminal, driving and drug screen
