JOB DESCRIPTIONSUPPORT SVCS REP/Telecommunications, per diem Summary
Serve as a telephone operator and dispatcher of messages to hospital staff. The duties include answering external and internal calls for staff and patients within the hospital, identifying the nature of the call, transferring the call or obtaining a message, and conveying the message in an appropriate manner. Key Responsibilities Switchboard is operated and incoming and outgoing calls are responded to within established standards. Calls are screened and questions are directed to appropriate departments. Authorized personnel are paged over intercom or paging system per established guidelines. Emergency phone calls and alarms are responded to immediately and per established guidelines. Security CCTV is monitored when required and per established guidelines. Mail is sorted per guidelines as requested. Receptionist duties are assumed when needed per established guidelines. Pages are issued, tracked, and maintained per manufacturer and department guidelines. Engineering, environmental services, and security calls are dispatched as directed. Additional department, organization, or network activities are completed per established objectives. Qualifications and Experience Education/Degree
Required High School Graduate or equivalent required.
Experience Required Prior operator experience required.
Preferred Experience with use of switchboards preferred.
Skills Required Read, write, and speak English. Computer proficiency required. Microsoft office applications preferred with ability to learn new software. Highly developed communications and interpersonal skills, working with diverse population. Work independently, be self-directed and contribute as a member of a team. Anticipates challenges and develops and implements strategies for addressing them. High level of service delivery. Demonstrate initiative with ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines and adapt to changing situations. Attention to detail.
