JOB DESCRIPTIONJOB SUMMARY
Performs work involving the scheduling of transportation for clients for all service types and across funding sources and performing clerical work as needed within the system
Includes some or all of the following. Other functions, duties, and/or responsibilities may be assigned periodically.
Provides cordial, responsive and accurate customer service;
Assists in route development and modifications;
Assists with preparation of annual Transportation Plan;
Coordinate Routes with other Human Service Transportation providers;
Coordinates fleet inspections through the Public Service Commission;
Checks and totals County Ride Route Drivers logs to assist Transportation Administrator in preparation of monthly service reports.
Takes phone, written, or email request for transportation services from eligible clients to determine the appropriate service type and funding source for their needs.
Assesses client needs and handles scheduling, confirmation, and cancellation of trips from daily requests as well as pre-booked standing orders. Groups service requests into the most efficient tours in order to prevent redundancies and make the best use of vehicles. Assures all drivers have an accurate listing of scheduled trips by close of business on the day prior to the trip.
Prepares and maintains client intake forms and files, trip records, complaints/suggestion files, and state, county, and agency reporting tools.
Working knowledge of county, state, and federal statutes pertaining to public transportation and safety (or the demonstrated ability to learn the same).
Working knowledge of the location of streets, roads, highways and the geographical, social, and economic conditions of the service area.
Types necessary reports, forms, and correspondence as needed.
Provides information on transportation procedures; codes invoices, creates invoices for human service agencies; makes monthly passes; counts and manage farebox revenue; and handles other clerical duties as assigned by the Transit Administrator. Work is characterized by the variety, complexity, and frequent public contact associated with the position. Considerable tact and courtesy are required as well as judgment in selecting and applying standard procedures and practices to specific tasks. Work is performed under general supervision and is evaluated by observation, conference, and the overall effectiveness and accuracy of duties performed.
Consults with Transit Administrator on matters which are not addressed as standard operating procedure, making recommendations on needed changes in operating policies and guidelines.
Communicates with drivers as necessary on two-way radio system in accordance with accepted radio communication standards.
Oversees the system operation in the absence of the Transit Administrator..
Drives all vehicles in fleet;
Perform other duties as required.
