We're also a national trendsetter in kidney transplants through the Virginia Transplant Center and as part of the Virginia Institute of Robotic Surgery, we lead the state in minimally-invasive procedures with da Vinci robotic-assisted surgeries.
Post-Transplant Nurse Practitioner:
32 hours/week, generally Monday through Thursday, but some Fridays if the Inpatient NP is off. Flexible schedule. Weekday hours 8:00 a.m. 4:30 p.m.
Provides care for post-kidney transplant patients in an outpatient clinic setting. These patients are 2 weeks-25 years post-transplant.
Adjusts immunosuppression under the direction of the transplant surgeons.
Maintains current refills with participating pharmacies on post-transplant immunosuppression.
Assess patients for acute illness and infection and facilitate admission to the hospital if needed.
Cares for complex kidney transplant patients with multiple co-morbidities.
Provides coverage for the inpatient nurse practitioner when off.
Attends weekly multi-disciplinary team meetings, monthly Transplant Steering Committee meetings and bi-annual Transplant Quality meetings.
On call duties: phone calls from post-transplant patients, inpatient caregivers and ER MD s regarding transplant patients.
Reviews electronic organ offers and review with transplant surgeons.
Calls patients in to receive their transplant, pre-operative testing and assessments. Present in the Holding are, OR and PACU for transplant event.
On Call is generally every 7th or 8th weekend and 3 to 4 weeknights/month.
Required MSN and Nurse Practitioner Certification
