We attract top minds, and we nurture and build top talent. /p p As a b VP/CMO - /b b Medical Affairs for the AstraZeneca Renal-Cardio Therapy Area US and CMO of ZS Pharma /b in our b South San Francisco /b site you will be accountable for the strategic direction, business/resource planning, and team leadership of a defined portfolio within b Renal Cardio Therapy area for the US market and represent the US in the global medical affairs team /b . In this role you will direct and support the disease area portfolio team to assure operational effectiveness and efficiencies through a continuous improvement approach. Accountable for staff development, evaluation, hiring and alignment of personnel to support Medical Affairs objectives. Accountable for interactions with government and private managed care organizations to ensure AstraZeneca's products are appropriately positioned. /p p b i We are excited to share that we will have a site in South San Francisco by end of 2017. /i /b br a href="https://www.astrazeneca-us.com/media/press-releases/2016/astrazeneca-to-strengthen-presence-in-california-with-new-south-san-francisco-location-09272016.html" target="_blank" b i Click here /i /b br /a b i for more information on this new facility. /i /b br /p strong Main Duties and Responsibilities /strong ul li Responsible for leading a Disease Area Portfolio within a Therapy Area Medical Affairs function /li li When required can be deputised for Therapy Area Vice President (TAVP) responsibilities e.g. GMA Leadership Team, Therapy Area Coordination Unit (TACU) chair, Medical Affairs Council (MAC), the associated Global Portfolio and Product Strategy (GPPS) TA Leadership Team etc. /li li Accountable to the associated TAVP for the delivery of full evidence generation and confidence activities within allocated disease area /li li Ensures that high-performing Medical Affairs Leaders (MALs) contribute medical insight and expertise to the Global Product Teams (GPT) and product life cycle management /li li Coaches and mentors MALs who lead GMATs to ensure they have the correct skills and capabilities to lead a cross functional GMAT effectively /li li Ensures delivery to agreed key performance indicators (KPIs)/key success factors (KSFs) that are accordingly measured and tracked /li li Contributes to evaluation of product safety, benefit-risk assessments as well as the development and implementation of risk management plans /li li Contributes to regulatory interactions such as regulatory advisory committees /li li Ensues clear global strategy is effectively communicated at regional and country levels and that regional/country needs are appropriately accommodated in global deliverables /li li Leads or oversees a diverse range of initiatives to improve decision making and ensure continuous improvement within Medical Affairs, both at the TA level and above /li li Leads the development, with a team, of new methodologies or processes to provide business benefits and evaluate time and cost implications /li li Accountable for the Medical Affairs portfolio budget and associated due financial management /li li Keeps own knowledge and other’s knowledge of best practices and relevant developments up to date /li li Leads, guides, evaluates and develops a management team within own portfolio area of Medical Affairs to ensure it achieves its objectives and complies with all relevant regulations and laws /li li Identifies development opportunities for direct reports /li li Carries out effective succession planning /li /ul
