Directs and oversees the operation of multiple Distribution Centers in geographically disbursed locations. Develops and implements inbound and outbound distribution center strategies and operational plans to ensure a consistent customer experience and achieve the sales and profit objectives of Henry Schein Animal Health. Partners effectively with Sales leadership to continually improve the customer experience through distribution and logistics services within their zone. Identifies new, improved and innovative ways to improve operational efficiency.

Develops strategic and operational plans for multiple Distribution Centers in geographically disbursed locations. Provides direction to distribution center managers to ensure the execution of plans and measure results.

Implements best-in-class, state-of-the-art distribution and logistics processes and practices to generate cost savings and drive operational efficiency. Challenges "traditional ways" and invents and applies "new ways", constantly emphasizing and demonstrating balanced risk taking. Defines, directs, and executes quality improvement initiatives.

Ensures the attainment of Profit and Loss objectives for the distribution centers in the Zone. Meets with customers and actively collaborates with Sales leadership to drive sales and achieve profitable growth. Partners with Zone Managers to support RFP responses to secure new business. Translates business requirements into actionable strategies. Participates in and presents at Zone Operating reviews.

Determines and implements short and long-range goals and operational plans to achieve designated site objectives. Establishes, monitors and ensures achievement of Key Performance Indicators regarding shipping accuracy, inbound currency, productivity (lines per hour) and expense management.

Identifies and secures necessary resources, i.e. staffing, training programs.

Creates and analyzes reports, records, and directives, and confers with managers/supervisors to obtain data required for planning activities, such as new commitments, status of work in progress, and problems encountered. Resolves issues.

Creates relationships across the company and with external parties to reach consensus on complex strategic issues, maximizing success and championing team decisions.

Stays abreast of market developments and distribution trends, with a focus on developing insights that will maximize value and identify new opportunities.

Establishes human capital objectives within the Zone. Coaches, develops, and mentors distribution center leaders. Provides ongoing performance feedback, participates in succession planning, talent management, recruiting, selection, onboarding, training, assigning, scheduling, counseling, and disciplining Team Schein Members. Communicates job expectations; plans and reviews compensation actions.

Develops strategic presentations and business plans to evaluate project opportunities, and recommends to senior management. Makes decisions that support and drive the organization strategy; influences others to support the decisions. Fosters personal courage in others.


Bachelor s degree required, with preference for a major in Operations, Logistics, Supply Chain, or other business-related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience); MBA preferred.

A minimum of 10 years practical warehousing experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience) is required, preferably within the distribution industry.

5 years of experience managing the operations of multi-site distribution centers or equivalent experience

3 years of management experience in dispensing or distributing prescription drugs and/or controlled substances, preferred

Thorough understanding of warehouse management and shipping systems.

Experience creating and delivering proposals and presentations to customers

Demonstrated ability to collaborate with other departments within an organization (Sales, Purchasing, Marketing, etc.)

Financial and business acumen to include experience developing and managing multi-site operations to a budget

Demonstrates extremely high sense of urgency, personal energy, and stamina. Capable of handling multiple priorities and extensive time demands. High level of personal integrity.

Effectively navigates through complex situations, both internal and external, that may require multiple decision makers.

Effective communicator with internal and external executives.

Proactively supports DC Managers to identify talent internally and externally, including participation in succession planning process for leadership positions.

Green belt or equivalent in Six Sigma or Lean Six Sigma preferred
