Kennel Assistant Jobs & Employment Information

Kennel jobs involve looking after dogs and cats in kennels or in catteries. If you are looking for a kennel technician job you have a choice to look after the animals while the owner is away temporarily or choose to work with an animal welfare organization.

In this profession, you will be expected to be alert and sensitive to changes in the behavior of the animals under your care. Also, you will be required to be physically fit for jobs such as walking the dogs and cleaning the kennels.

A typical job with a kennel involves working 40 hours a week. However, part-time opportunities are also easy to find. While most of the times you do not require any qualifications, some kennels expect you to come with special training for handling guide dogs or other special animals.

It is always useful to have paid or voluntary experience of working with animals. According the Bureau of Labor Statistics, jobs for all animal services are expected by go up by 21% by 2018. An average Kennel assistant earned between 7.63 USD to 9.26 USD per hour in the year 2010.
