The Executive Director of the South East Chicago Commission (SECC) will provide the leadership, vision, strategy and management for the organization's overall initiatives, programs and operations. The Executive Director will assume a highly visible external role, raising funds, strengthening the organization's impact, serving as a spokesperson and marketer, and ensuring that significant resources are secured to allow for the SECC's sustainability.

Reporting to the University of Chicago, Office of Civic Engagement, and working closely with the Chair and the SECC Board, the Executive Director will guide and motivate staff to perform assigned tasks professionally, proficiently and in a timely manner. In addition, he/she will assess internal operations and programs, and propose and implement new programmatic and partnership initiatives.

He/she will have responsibility for the content and programmatic direction of the SECC, identifying activities that heighten the organization's role and visibility in the communities it serves. It is expected that the Executive Director will propose and implement plans designed to position the South East Chicago Commission as a distinctive organization in the Commission's designated geographic areas, which fully expresses its mission, expands the scope and reach of its programming, and extends its base of financial support.
