Senior Corporate Counsel – Compliance & Regulatory is responsible for providing legal advice relating to legal compliance in various areas related to the company’s position as a regulated entity. This position is required to support the objectives of the Chief Legal Officer and to play a major role in providing quality legal services in a cost-effective manner. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.Reduce risk associated with non-compliance with laws and regulations.Prepare and review compliance aspects of company policies and procedures.Advise on compliance issues relating to all contracts, including those with customers, consultants, buying groups, distributors and sales representatives.Assist in due diligence review of compliance at target companies in connection with possible merger or acquisition transactions.Advice on compliance with various U.S. rules, including HIPAA, Fraud & Abuse, Medicaid/Medicare Fraud and Abuse, the Anti-Kickback Statute, the AdvaMed Code and the FCPA, and similar rules in other countries.Lead investigations of suspected or alleged breaches of law or policy from the company’s Silent Whistle hotline and other sources.Participate in meetings of various compliance committees in the company’s business units.Provide proactive legal services, including management and employee education and training.Monitor document preservation/e-discovery compliance efforts (litigation and investigations)Manage outside counsel and in-house resources in connection with the foregoing.Perform other duties and responsibilities assigned from time to time by the Chief Legal Officer. Required SkillsProficiency with relevant software applications. Required ExperienceEducation: Undergraduate college degree and Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from an American Bar Association accredited law school with superior academic credentials.Membership in a state bar. Experience: At least six years of experience as an attorney with a strong background in the areas described above.
