The essential functions include but are not limited to repairs and maintain both hydraulic and traction elevators and related equipment which includes relays, controls, wiring, contracts, cables and doors.
REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to use volt/ohm meter, tachometer, light tester and fuse tester.
Ability to use mechanical tools relevant to the trade.
Ability to read schematics.
2 years vocational or apprentice training may be substituted for vocational or apprentice training
SENIORITY:
New employees will establish seniority in the International Association of Machinists (IAM), the union representing Elevator Mechanic, in accordance with the union's current collective bargaining agreement.
ASSIGNMENTS:
Must have the ability to work various hours, days and shifts in Grand Central Terminal.
RATE OF PAY
The wage progression scale is as follows: 70 75 80 85 90 100%. The full rate of pay is $29.39/hour.
OTHER COMMENTS:
Must provide hand tools appropriate for job.
Must complete Metro-North respirator training and certification within 30 days of job award.
This is a safety sensitive position and subject to toxicological testing.
SELECTION CRITERIA:

A written exam/practical skill exam, a personal interview, and a background investigation are the key factors in the selection process. If selected, you must then successfully complete a Pre-Placement Medical Exam. Selection is competitive.
