Network Services Enterprise TAC Tech I (Switch Technician)
Work Schedule: 24/7 environment, rotational schedule JOB SUMMARY Responsible for support of current and future integrated Network Solutions as a Total Solution Subject Matter Expert for a suite of Cox Communications and OEM products by providing remote Technical Assistance for Cox Business customers and their services (i.e. T1Voice, PRI Voice, EPL, EVPL, EPLAN, EVPLAN, COI etcýý) which will combine a triple play like offering (Video, Data, Voice) to any end customer that Cox Communications services. Works on team that manages 24/7 network. Work hours will cover 24/7, shift work required. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES Provides technical support and problem resolution for Cox Business Enterprise customers. Performs acceptance testing of Cox Business related implementations. Configures aggregate devices, routers, optical access, DWDM equipment that carries video, data, and telephony traffic. Ensures proper functionality and reliability of the optical multiplexers, switches and routers by alerting team of required maintenance and repairs. Performs software upgrades to optical multiplexers and IP solutions according to engineering specifications. Provisions, tests, maintains, and repairs some or all of the following equipment: OC-192/48/12/3 multiplexers DWDM DACS Cisco routers Cisco switches Cisco Optical Networking Channel banks DS3 multiplexers Digital loop carriers DSX-1 and DSX-3 cross-connect panels Data Services Voice Services
Updates maintenance logs, network documentation, records and other information to ensure compliance with Cox and industry standards. Works with NOC, Fiber Construction, RF Headend technicians, Switch technicians and Test Desk technicians to identify and resolve network problems affecting voice, video and data services. Uses the following applications for implementation, service, test and acceptance (Remedy, NetSmart, SAM, Preside, Granite, Procomm Plus, Secure CRT). Maintains network integrity to achieve 99.999% service availability. Uses provided tools remotely to troubleshoot, diagnose and document system failures (T-Bend 224, OSA, OTDR, Light meter), and vendor specific technology management tools. Provides analysis and solution development for failures and outages and logs all phases of the analysis and solutions within Post Incident Report. Performs both internal and external escalation on all hardware and software failures, circuit troubles and all optical multiplexerýýs related outages to comply with Cox standards and provides feedback to vendors on network equipment issues. Coordinates with Network Service Operations, Access engineering and more senior technicians for new circuit turn-ups and to restore circuit outages. Interprets service orders and circuit diagrams. Verifies receipt of all equipment and information. Functions on a 24-hour call-in basis, in the event of serious malfunction of equipment, as required. Performs other duties as required.
