GENERAL SUMMARY: Performs highly complex data processing tasks relating to the geo-referencing and classification of LiDAR data returns obtained using an airborne laser sensor designed to capture information for earth surface modeling purposes. Manipulates data and extracts information to meet the needs of specific applications. Prepares formal reports for internal and external clients.
EXPECTED CONTRIBUTIONS:
Perform Inertial, GPS, Real-Time Kinematic (RTK), and LiDAR processing using provided software.
Prepare output data for delivery to internal and external clients.
May be required to travel and participate in field-work, processing data at or near the project location.
Track and report progress of data processing for specific assignments to LiDAR Processing Manager or designated project leader on a regular and timely basis.
Follow instructions for specific projects and the guidance provided by designated project leaders or Project Manager.
Adhere to Quality Control protocols as directed.
Play a key role relating to quality control and/or project leadership as assigned.
Training and directing of specific staff members as assigned.
Complete project related documentation and information required for statistical analysis and reports.
Compile and/or edit formal reports for output to clients.
Maintain backups of any work-in-progress or completed data files residing locally that is not automatically backed up by the Network Administrator.
Communicate all production related concerns and inquiries to the LiDAR Processing Manager or designated Project Lead.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY REQUIRED:
Post secondary degree or diploma in related area such as: Remote Sensing, Surveying, Geography, GIS, or Civil Engineering.
Professional certification in Geophysics, Remote Sensing, Survey or GIS an asset.
A fundamental understanding of spatial point data concepts.
CAD experience including Microstation.
General knowledge and understanding of commonly applied standards for the application of LiDAR data, such as those published by the American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ASPRS), the U.S. Federal Geographic Data Committee (FGDC) or other national equivalents.
Experience compiling formal written reports for external clients an asset.
Proficiency in the TerraSolid software products an asset.
᠐7; Proficiency in using ESRI's Suite of Products is an asset.
5 years experience in the Geomatics and remote sensing field.
LiDAR processing knowledge and training.
Experience with utilities and corridor mapping would be an asset.
