The Senior Network Engineer role is responsible for developing technical standards and best practice documents; identifying and evaluating new products; designing and implementing expansions and improvements to the corporate network. This role acts as top-level technical support for all data network related issues. This position requires an individual to work independently and with team members to provide engineering leadership and support for all network requirements in a global corporate network.
Responsibilities to include, but not limited to: * Establishes architecture and design for the Paramount LAN and WAN. * Serves as subject matter expert for WLAN technologies and security. * Participates in projects, providing technical leadership and creative ideas on integration services for network systems and technologies to other groups in the IT department. Recommends and ensures the completion of the network component of the final product. * Serves as the lead technical competence with respect to network design, implementation and operation. * Assists other IT engineering and support teams and Help Desk staff on basic network system problem resolution and operations. Provides documentation, training and oversight for the L2 network operations team. * Oversees modifications of the Enterprise network. This includes ensuring that changes and modifications of the network infrastructure are appropriately managed and takes measures to prevent and/or minimize any disruption on operations of the computing and storage resources attached to the network. * Interfaces with other IT groups to ensure that all devices on the Enterprise network are configured appropriately and follow network communication standards. * Interfaces with Facilities Operations staff to extend and improve the physical infrastructure according to appropriate specifications, maintaining expandability and maximizing ROI. * Interfaces with vendors to identify and make recommendations for the purchase of hardware and other equipment. * Ensures the protection of valuable hardware from delivery to production implementation. * Implements and configures network management tools.Basic qualifications: * Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Engineering or Math degree or equivalent work experience is required. * Minimum of 7 years experience in network engineering design, implementation, operation, support and troubleshooting.
Desired skills: * CCIE credentials are strongly preferred * Excellent team skills * Strong collaboration skills * Effective communication skills * Proven leadership skills * Strong hands-on skills with Cisco hardware, including: Switches, routers, firewalls/ASAs, intrusion detection systems (IDS), VPN concentrators, * In-depth knowledge of Cisco wireless technologies - Access points, controllers, WCS. * Hands-on skills with CiscoWorks software suite, ACS, MARS. * Excellent network management skills with open-source tools experience. * Experience with WAN acceleration - Riverbed and WAAS preferred. * In-depth VoIP experience (Cisco and Avaya preferred) * Prior responsibility in recommending / implementing strong security practices * Proven troubleshooting skills in complex multi-vendor LAN/WAN environments. * Strong knowledge of physical networking requirements and limitations cabling etc. * Specific knowledge covering, but not limited to, the following technologies: MPLS, EIGRP, BGP, NetFlow, SNMP, RMON, Load balancing, NBAR, IPSLA, FPM, EEM, QoS, DNS, IPSec, HSRP, VSS.
