The University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, Department of Surgery has an immediate opening for a Manager, Research Support. The primary objective of the department is to provide patient with quality care and clinical expertise, research and education. Duties include working with the Director to: administer departmental grants and contracts, assist faculty in developing, submitting and monitoring the administration of research proposals to various agencies such as the NIH private foundations, and commercial entities. The office will develop budgets, assist with completing grant applications, and maintain research. Effectively prioritize workload to meet stringent deadlines. Collaboratively work with Medical Research Administration, Sponsored Programs Compliance representatives, Post-Award Sponsored Programs representatives, Technology Transfer, and other departments.
Bachelor's degree in Business, Public Health or Communications and three to five years experience at directing federally funded public health programs. Ideal candidate will have knowledge of University of Miami system. This candidate will have knowledge of University of Miami systems: PIDMS (FRS online accounting system), InfoEd (proposal tracking, proposal development anSPIN/SMART/GENIUS), ARIBA (UM online purchasing and hiring system) and use of Excel and Access.Knowledge of Grants.gov, eRA Commons, and similar databases. Knowledge and understanding of Sponsored Programs policy, on the federal level as well as within the University of Miami. Both Pre-Award and Post-Award administration. Excellent written and verbal skills in English. Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience and/or certifications will be considered.
