Qualifications:
Masters and/or doctoral degree in psychology, trained in psychological testing and measurement plus two years post masters' experience in the mental health field or doctorate in psychology.
Must be approved by the Department of Corrections (DOC) and adhere to all DOC requirements. Employees will be subject to and must comply with all security regulations and procedures of NJ Department of Corrections and the assigned facility(ies) including, but not limited to sign in logs or electronic time clocks, searches of person and property, etc. Violations of NJ Department of Corrections and/or being banned by the DOC to work at a NJ DOC facility are grounds for disciplinary action and potential termination.
Responsibilities:
Completes specialized psychological testing and assessment of clinical needs of adults inmates sentenced to the Department of Corrections. Arrives at DSM IV multi-axial diagnoses with precision and accuracy by the end of psychological testing and evaluation session. Develops treatment plans. Makes clinically based decisions regarding appropriateness for treatment, as well as preferred treatment modality. Assesses and makes referrals for higher levels of care, as appropriate. Demonstrates competency in recognizing the unique needs and behaviors of adults (ages 18-64) and seniors (ages 65+). Skilled in testing and in providing group and individual therapies.
Position is located at the Adult Diagnostic and Treatment Center, Avenel, New Jersey.
