The Transcriptionist is responsible for interpreting, translating, editing, and transcribing dictation for content and clarity with timelines and accuracy. Assists physicians, physician office staff, and Mercy staff with dictation, transcription and electronic signature issues. QUALIFICATIONS 1. Successful completion of an anatomy & physiology course preferred. 2. Successful completion of an A&P course through AHIMA may be required after the employee is hired, if deemed necessary by Director. 3. Graduate of a 1 or 2 year medical transcriptionist program, Health Information Technician program or a minimum of 1-2 years current medical transcription experience, preferably in a hospital setting. 4. Must have demonstrated competence in the use of personal computers using Windows, word processing (preferably Word), and e-mail. 5. Excellent typing skills with emphasis on accuracy and quality. Must be able to demonstrate via typing test, the ability to type a minimum of 60 words per minute, corrected. 6. Must have a mastery of the English grammar, structure and style. 7. Good interpersonal skills. 8. Ability to work well with other individuals at various levels in the organization. 9. Ability to manage stress of Stat requests, daily turn around times requirements and repetitive work. 10. Ability to work with minimal supervision and detailed information. 11. Must be comfortable operating in a collaborative, shared leadership environment. 12. Must possess a personal presence that is characterized by a sense of honesty, integrity, and caring with the ability to inspire and motivate others to promote the philosophy, mission and vision, goals, and values of Trinity Health.
