Job Description

Our client, Wiser, is in search of a Vice President of Business Development. This role could be based out of many locations, but the ideal settings would be the Nashville, St. Louis or Washington DC areas. This role will design and implement the business development and sales strategy for the firm nationally in all market segments.

The VP of Business Development will be the leader of the Wiser Company Business Development and sales effort. He/she will work with the leaders of the Civil, Geospatial and AEC business segments to design and implement a cohesive strategy that encompasses a number of business sectors.

This position is primarily responsible for developing, managing, and guiding all sales activities in applicable area(s), designing and applying the sales strategy and sales plan; overseeing marketing activities for the organization's products and/or services; and developing marketing strategies, evaluating market conditions, and working with the office leadership to formulate plans to meet the client needs.

Wiser is in a solid growth mode and this individual will play a key role in taking the firm into new market segments that will sustain and support this growth. We are an entrepreneurial firm that is led by an energetic and experienced group that seeks a team member who can contribute to the firm in a multitude of ways.

Wiser currently has a growing presence in the federal geospatial market and sees this as a continuing opportunity for the firm. We also perform a wide variety of services in the Civil market such as road and bridge design, ITS, Water and sewer design, environmental services and planning. The third arm of the firm provides AEC services and has a solid base of experience in the commercial and higher education markets in addition to others.

As stated above, the ideal locations for this role would be Murfreesboro, Birmingham, St. Louis or Washington DC. Each of these areas brings a unique benefit to the incumbent in this role. Other cities are also open for consideration and the location of this role is not the key element for the successful candidate.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE preferred:
• Bachelors degree in an appropriate area-Advanced degree in Business would be a plus
• Substantial experience selling services in the federal, municipal and state markets-exposure and understanding of the federal market is of highest importance
• Documented experience in leading a successful business development effort in the federal market
• Experience partnering with firms working in the federal market
• A self-starter with the drive to overcome obstacles that will occur
• The capability to see the big picture and understand the role relationships play in the market
