Position: Kentucky Hearth Economic Justice Counselor

Hours: Monday thru Friday 9am-5pm.

Job Summary:
Under the supervision of the Buffalo Trace Director, help domestic violence survivors work toward and achieve self-sufficiency. The counselor will refer and help survivors find housing and connect them to public assistance and other mainstream services. The individual would provide financial education, one-on-one credit coaching and recruit eligible survivors for Kentucky Domestic Violence Association's Individual Development Account program. This position is responsible for the following:

*Providing case management services addressing housing needs of the clients. *Connecting clients with needed housing and sustainability resources. *Providing job training, assessment, and information to program-eligible persons seeking to enhance their job search skills. *Providing counseling and training for financial sustainability. *Facilitating communication and teamwork among staff. *Handing related administrative responsibilities. *Performing community outreach duties as needed.

Job Qualifications:
Knowledge and skills at a level typically acquired through obtaining a Bachelor's Degree in a social service related field and 1 to 2 years related experience. Knowledge of/experience with legal/court processes. Ability to work under highly stressful, crisis-oriented situations. Ability to handle sensitive information and maintain level of confidentiality. Outsanding empathetic and listening skills. Professional oral and written communication skills. Ability to work indepedently. Abilit to make decisions and problem solve. Minimum age of 18.

The ideal candidate has experience in providing financial education and one-on-one credit coaching, homeownership counseling, reading credit reports and providing other case management services.
