Local company looking for a shelter counselor/advocate
Location: Buffalo Trace Shelter
FLSA Status: Exempt
Reports To: Shelter Director
Supervises: N/A
Hours: Mon-Fri, 11am-7pm
Job Summary:
Under the supervision of the Shelter Director, provides full range of crisis intervention, assessment, counseling, case management, advocacy, and referral services to victims of domestic violence, rape and related abuse. Be on call for crisis situations on rotating bais.
Qualification:
*Knowledge and skills at a level typically acquired through obtaining a Bachelor's degree in social service related field and one to two years related experience.
*Ability to work under highly stressful, crisis-oriented situations.
*Ability to handle sensitive information andm aintain high level of confidentiality.
*Outstanding empathetic and listening skills.
*Professional oral and written communcation skills.
*Ability to work independently.
*Advise, inform, interact, interpret, decide, and problem solve.
