The new Mass General/North Shore Center for Outpatient Care opened in the spring of 2009 in Danvers, MA. This unique collaboration between academic medical center and community based providers sets the standard by delivering high quality, patient-centered care in a friendly, convenient and efficient manner to the northern Massachusetts and southern New Hampshire communities.

General Overview
Technical Assistant reports to and functions under the general supervision of the Unit Operations Manager and/or the Director of Imaging. Receives direct supervision from physicians and senior technical staff.
Responsibilities
Oversees the departments stock supplies (monitoring and replenishment) including custom instrument packs, sterile instruments and linen; maintaining non-sterile linen as well as select non-stock supplies as needed. Obtains stretchers for outpatient procedures; Maintains relations with Materials Management for informational updates and product changes.
Develops and processes all filming requirements including development, & manual subtractions. Maintains processor chemistry and assists the techs with laser film replenishment.
Works directly with the mammography department documenting patient information in the Magview system.
Reschedules mammography patients that have not scheduled follow-ups examinations properly.
Sends mammography site reports to screening sites on a weekly basis
Works directly with the breast health navigator on patients that require a breast health procedure
Assists technologists with procedures including cleaning, restocking, etc.
Maintains aseptic conditions preparing patients for procedures and participating in cases.
Uses appropriate protection from all hazardous materials (blood borne pathogens, radiation, etc.) as stated by unit policy and hospital authorization.
Assists physicians, technologists and nurses as necessary during the exam.
Maintains testing area in an orderly manner, prepares equipment.
Maintains professional, effective and constructive working relations and communication with departmental staff, hospital personnel.
Meets department standards for work habits and job performance.
Assists with patient transport.
Assists with stat-lab specimen transport during emergent procedure situation
Skills/Abilities/Competencies
Knowledge of universal precautions.
Knowledge of medical/Radiology supplies.
Knowledge of embolic materials, equipment, supplies and procedures.
Knowledge of proper radiation safety/protection procedures.
Knowledge of aseptic technique.
Knowledge of film processors and laser printers.
Knowledge of the principles of growth and development of infant, early childhood, late childhood, adolescent, young adult, adult, senior adult and geriatric patients. Must posses the ability to assess patient specific data relative to age specific needs and provide age appropriate care.
