Analyzes preliminary engineering-design concepts in order to recommend design or test methods for attaining customer-specified operational reliability, using knowledge of reliability engineering and other technologies. Analyzes preliminary plans and develops reliability engineering program to achieve customer reliability objectives. Analyzes projected product utilization and calculates cumulative effect on final system reliability of individual part reliabilities. Drafts failure mode and effect analysis sheets or formulates mathematical models, using computer-aided engineering equipment, to identify units posing excessive failure risks and support proposed changes in design. Enters data to simulate electrical inputs, transient conditions, temperature, stress, and other factors to develop computer models, and analyzes and adjusts design to predict and improve system reliability. Advises and confers with engineering in design review meetings to give reliability findings and recommendations. Leads failure and root cause analysis, FMECA, FTA, reliability assessment, RDT, ORT, and reliability allocation efforts. Determines units requiring environmental testing and specifies minimum number of samples to obtain statistically valid data. Observes conduct of tests at supplier, plant, or field locations to evaluate reliability factors, such as numbers and causes of unit failures. Monitors failure and warranty data, develop, and lead statistical analysis initiatives to identify and facilitate continuous improvement activities Required SkillsProficient with Weibull ++7, BlockSim7 and Relex.Expert in allocation models and simulation programs.Experienced with HALT, Growth, and Accelerated Life testing and analysis desired.Strong background in statistical methodologies commonly used in QC/QA.ASQ certifiedSix Sigma training is preferred.Excellent written and verbal communication skills to interact effectively with people in all departments and at all levels.
