The college is particularly interested in applicants who demonstrate an interest in active learning approaches, student assessment techniques, and utilizing technology in the classroom. Successful candidates will have demonstrated experience in instructional applications of computers and other educational technology or be interested in learning these. Interest in teaching online courses is also encouraged. The college is also interested in individuals with a commitment to departmental, institutional, and community service. Duties will include teaching 15 contact hours per semester. Some opportunities exist for overload and summer teaching assignments. Teaching experience, especially at a community college, is viewed favorably.SOCIOLOGY: A master's degree in Sociology is required. Ph.D. is preferred. While the candidate should be able to teach a variety of Sociology courses, most of the teaching load is Introduction to Sociology, with possible opportunities for teaching other courses such as Social Problems, Sociology of Work and Sociology of Aging. POLITICAL SCIENCE: A master's degree in Political Science, with a substantive focus in American politics, is required. A Ph.D. in Political Science is preferred. Candidates should be prepared to teach both American Politics and State and Local Government. LAW ENFORCEMENT: A master's degree or higher in Law Enforcement, Criminal Justice, Criminology, or closely related discipline (supplemented with a strong emphasis on criminal investigation and police activities) from a recognized accredited university is required. The candidate should be prepared to teach courses on a variety of topics in the discipline, including Police Service, Investigation, Criminal Law, and Forensic Science. Interest in teaching online courses is also encouraged.HVAC: An A.A.S. degree in HVAC is required. Bachelor's degree is preferred. Recent work experience of at least 2000 hours in HVAC is also required. The candidate should have the ability and interest in teaching a full range of HVAC courses.Compensation will be commensurate with education and experience $34,357 - $63,327 with an excellent benefit package. Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a criminal background check and drug screen.
