Mattel Inc. is seeking an experienced Art Director (Project Designer) to join its Girls Brands Consumer Products Design team.
Consumer Products Design is a division of Mattel that specializes in designing licensed products ranging from apparel and accessories to sporting goods, consumer electronics, and more. We design everything BUT toys for the world's leading kids' brands.
We're currently seeking an art director to lead the design direction for some of our girl-focused brands. We need someone with a vision for what's new and fresh and the ability to bring it to life on youth products. The best candidate for this position will be able to direct other designers and outside agencies, but also have the ability to roll up his/her sleeves and design.
Responsibilities:
' Creatively direct style guides
' Direct outside designers to bring your vision to life
' Conceptualize and design trend-relevant graphics
' Collaborate with internal design and marketing teams during product inception and refinement phases
' Collaborate with external licensees to elevate their designs
' Review design submissions from licensees and offer feedback
' Lead trend and competitive research
Qualifications:
' Degree in Design, Illustration or relevant experience
' Minimum of 5 years experience in design relative to the above interest
' Ability to art direct outside agencies and vendors effectively
' Strong visual dialog skills through sketching, or digital tools
' In depth knowledge of girls youth culture
' Highly proficient in Photoshop and Illustrator
' Ability to organize, prioritize and handle multiple projects and tight deadlines
' The ability to present to audiences large and small
' Can-do attitude, and strong work ethic
