Responsibilities AstraZeneca Veterinary Medicine US is dedicated to providing high quality veterinary care to a diverse species of research animals in support of AstraZeneca?s discovery efforts and early development programs of three research centers in North America (Wilmington, Boston, and Montreal), which covers our Central Nervous System, Pain, Cancer and Infection therapy areas. Veterinary Medicine is comprised of Veterinary Care and Facility Operations and primarily supports discovery research.As the Senior Staff Veterinarian you will report to the Director of Veterinary Medicine. Responsibilities include: assisting in implementation of the animal care and use program, direction of technical staff, protocol review and facility operations, and providing veterinary medical services to a wide variety of laboratory species. In an AAALAC, Intl. accredited facility, you will provide veterinary medical and surgical services, support surgical animal model development, and provide direction and training to research investigators, research support staff and animal care personnel involved with the pharmaceutical discovery and pre-clinical safety assessment process. You will participate on the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee and work closely with the Director of Veterinary Medicine, research support staff, and research investigators to ensure compliance with federal regulations, industry guidelines, and company policies regarding the use of animals in biomedical research.Qualifications Minimum Requirements -DVM (or equivalent) and licensed to practice in the US or equivalent-License to practice in at least one state in the United States-ACLAM board certification or board eligibility -1 to 5 years of laboratory animal medicine experience, with record of increased responsibilities and accomplishments, in either a pharmaceutical or academic environment -Knowledge of regulatory requirements for the care and use of animals in research-Experience working in a matrixed multidisciplinary environment and knowledge of the drug discovery and development process-Effective communication, organizational and technical skills-Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to collaborate and work in teams-Ability to motivate others, positively influence people, and work in a team environment
