Purpose of Job To operate mammographic equipment to take x-ray exposures of patients as requested by referring physicians. explain mammographic procedure to patients, assure safety of patients, review films to confirm high quality images, and prepare files and reports. Also accountable for consistently demonstrating the knowledge, skills, abilities, and behaviors necessary to provide superior and culturally sensitive service to each other, to our members, and to purchasers, contracted providers and vendors.' Duties and Responsibilities 1. Greets patient and explains mammographic procedure to patient. 2. Reviews patient's medical history prior to performing mammographic procedure and confirms that patient has signed a contrast media consent form if needed. 3. Takes x-ray exposures of patient following protocol for intensity of radiation and time of exposure. 4. Processes film and inspects images to confirm that images meet requirements of radiologist. 5. Maintains equipment and examination room, stores film, and keeps inventory of related supplies. 6. Prepares patient files showing such information as patient's name, date of x-ray, referring physician, and number of exposures. 7. Prepares and submits reports as by state and federal regulations. 8. Performs other related duties as directed. Minimum Qualifications Experience - One year of experience as a Mammography Technologist or registry eligible ARRT advanced certification in Mammography (must be obtained within 6 months of hire) with two years recent experience as a Radiological technologist with ARRT required. Education and Training - High school diploma or GED education required. - Specialized training in mammographic technology required. License, Certifications, Other Credentials - Certification by American Registry of Radiologic Technology required. - Certification as a mammographic technologist with the ARRT preferred . - Licensed in appropriate jurisdiction required. - CPR certification required. Other Qualifications - In order to work effectively with patients, must have effective interpersonal and communication skills and be able to stand, walk, bend, hear, speak, and see. - Proficiency in the use of applicable computer software.
