Calpine owns, leases and operates integrated systems of fuel-efficient natural gas-fired and renewable geothermal power plantsThe Cost Estimator will be responsible for developing capital cost estimates, costing analysis, subcontract bid reviews and budget development support functions.nbsp;Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, utilizing project cost estimating systems, preparing detailed capital cost estimates, developing and maintaining up-to-date cost information databases.nbsp;Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Perform project capital cost estimating and related cost estimating tasks as required.nbsp; Apply and utilize project cost estimating software systems in support of capturing and summarizing project capital costs.nbsp;Responsibilities include: Applying and utilizing the software system(s), Populating the software systems with capital cost data both conceptual and detailed as may be necessary. Importing and exporting of other relevant cost data. Perform project capital cost budgets in support of the Projects. Assist the Project in projected capital cost control management, including the timely notification of identified variances and trends. Identify and assist in the development of processes or procedures to most effectively support the management of projected capital costs. Coordinate with Engineers, Managers and Project Field Staff as required in conceptual estimating and in the executing of the project budgets and review of subcontractor bid packages. Perform drawing take-offs in support of projects and in development of estimates. Qualifications: A recognized degree in a business or, technical discipline from an accredited college or university, or commensurate work experience performing related duties. Five years work experience in support of capital projects. Demonstrated strong project and process organizational skills.Demonstrated ability to manage cost estimating tasks for multiple and diverse projects against firm deadlines. Strong computer skills including expertise in MS Excel spreadsheet and related database management, competency in MS Word, and competency in MS PowerPoint. Ability to handle multiple acquisition and diverse tasks simultaneously in a self-directed manner. English literacy, strong verbal communication skills, written skills and mathematical computational skills are required.
