Calpine owns, leases and operates integrated systems of fuel-efficient natural gas-fired and renewable geothermal power plantsResponsible for performing engineering inspections, evaluations, designs and recommendations for a wide range of high voltage electrical equipment and systems in a power plant environment.Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Main duty will be to perform engineering inspections, evaluations, designs and recommendations for a wide range of high voltage electrical equipment and systems in a power plant environment. Fundamental knowledge of design, operation and inspection of generators, motors, batteries, relays, circuit breakers, switchgear, transformers and field instrumentation. Understanding of equipment testing, evaluation, calibration techniques, etc. Ability to read and interpret piping and instrument diagrams (Pamp;ID). You must have experience in providing technical support for large electric power generation systems operations, maintenance, and/or construction. Understanding of power plant operations, including the interrelationship of engineering with operation and maintenance functions and familiarity with ASME Performance Test Codes, IEEE and NERC. Expected to review plant electrical related operational and equipment problems that result in poor performance, reduced availability, loss of efficiency, or loss of capacity. Expected to determine the root causes, and propose and implement solutions to the problem areas. You will be responsible to manage electrical projects including supervision of contractors, vendors, and consultants to assure projects are completed within budget and schedule constraints. Involved with construction, startup and testing of the electrical equipment and systems. Qualifications: BSEE Degree required. PE license would be preferred 10+ years of experience with high voltage equipment and systems used in an operating power plant. Need hands on operations and maintenance experience in a power plant environment.
